You’re Not Confused — You’re Avoiding Yourself
You keep telling yourself you’re confused.
That you don’t know what to do.
That you need more time.
That things just aren’t clear right now.
But if you slow down for a moment…
really slow down…
you’ll notice something uncomfortable.
It’s not confusion. It’s resistance, because confusion feels passive, safe.
It allows you to stay exactly where you are without having to question it too deeply. But what you’re experiencing isn’t a lack of clarity, it’s a quiet refusal to sit with what is already clear. You felt it, not once, actually more than once.
That moment where something didn’t sit right.
Where your body tightened slightly.
Where your mind tried to override what you felt, and instead of staying with it, you moved away.
You told yourself:
“I’m probably overthinking, Maybe it’s not that serious, I just need to calm down.”
So you adjusted and softened your response. You stayed longer than you wanted to, you ignored the part of you that was trying to get your attention.
And now you call it confusion.
But confusion doesn’t feel like this. Confusion is neutral. This isn’t.
This feels:
heavy, repetitive, slightly draining, quietly persistent. Because something in you keeps returning to the same place.
The same thought, the same feeling, the same internal pause.
That’s not confusion.
That’s awareness, being repeatedly ignored and more you ignore it, the louder it becomes in other ways.
You feel more disconnected. More unsure of yourself. Less trusting of your own instincts. Not because you’ve lost clarity, but because you’ve stopped listening to it.
There’s a cost to avoiding yourself, and it doesn’t show up all at once. It shows up slowly. In the way you second-guess your decisions. In the way you hesitate when you used to be certain. In the way you look outward for answers, instead of inward where they already exist.
And over time…
you begin to feel like you don’t know yourself anymore. But you do.
You just haven’t been honest with what you know. And honesty doesn’t always require action straight away. But it does require presence. The willingness to sit with something without softening it, without reframing it, without escaping it.
Because the truth is —
you’re not trying to find clarity.
You’re trying to avoid what clarity might require of you.
✨

You’re not confused.
You’re just not ready to fully face yourself yet.
And that’s where the real work begins.
